Skeptics, Read On!

If you made it this far on our website, chances are you are seriously considering hiring someone to clean your home. And that's great! But you still have concerns. And that's understandable.

The purpose of this page of our website is to help people just like you put their fears to rest - to help them overcome their skepticism over hiring a house cleaner or house cleaning service.

Before moving on, let's look at some of the most common objections to hiring a house cleaning service:
Common objections to hiring a cleaning service.

Money. It's always a concern.

But consider this: for just a few dollars per day you could have a fresh, clean home (that you didn't have to clean yourself!) That's right, for about what you might spend on lunch each day, you could be getting your house cleaned. Heck, these days a lot of us spend more on buying our precious coffee and fu fu la-di-da drinks!

Have you ever been at work, on vacation, or out somewhere and thought to yourself, "The house is such a mess, and I don't really feel up to cleaning when I get home?" We all get tired. We get busy. And we get involved in so many different things in life it can be difficult to consistently keep up with house work. And that is where we can really make a positive difference in your life. It's always so great to hear stories from our happy customers about this.

So at this point the advice would be this: consider your priorities and move on from there.

"No one cleans like me!"

Whoa now Ethel! Slow down. Of course no one can clean your home the way you do. But how consistent are you with cleaning? Does your back feel sore afterwards? Are you sure you are cleaning in the corners, above the fridge, and around the base of the toilet each time? Careful now, you know the story of that wooden boy, Pinnochio. What about those times you just don't feel up to the task of house cleaning?

One of the biggest advantages to hiring a house cleaning service is consistency. At Venice Cleaning & Maid Services, we provide our clients with a designated cleaning day, either weekly or biweekly. And when we show up to clean your house on cleaning day, we get the job done-efficiently and thoroughly.

In many ways our house cleaning service is the same as a lawn and landscape service. The only real difference is that you are paying to have the inside of your home maintained instead of the outside.

The bottom line is this: We may not clean as good as you. But we will clean your home consistently "almost as good" as you! Oh, and your back will feel just fine after we are finished!

The TRUST factor.

This is the biggie. Did you read our article "Is a Cleaning Service Right for Me?" If not, you might want to read the Tips and Advice section, where we discuss ways to find a service you can trust.

Trust is something that cannot be sold to you. And you cannot purchase it. Trust is built over time. But there are things you can do to help make sure that the person or company you hire to clean your house is on the up and up. At the very least make sure you meet with the owners or, at the very least, the manager of the company. If you are considering hiring an individual, then the same advice holds true. Our advice is to actually meet with 2 or 3 different companies for the sake of comparison. Once you make your selection, ask for references. Then take the time to make contact with each reference and ask candid questions about the person or service. Finally, regardless of who you select to clean your house, make sure they are bonded and insured and then ask for copies. Liability insurance is a must just in case something gets broken in your home during a cleaning appointment.

One final note: There is no such thing as a "licensed" house cleaner or cleaning service in the State of Florida. So, if someone tells you they are "licensed," well...there's your first clue about who you are dealing with.

Maid vs. Service

There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to hiring someone to clean your home. One of the first questions to consider is: “Should I hire a cleaning service (a business) or should I find a ‘cleaning lady or maid’ to do the work?” There are pros and cons to both. We feel the pros for hiring a “service” greatly outweigh those for hiring an individual.

One of the biggest advantages in favor of hiring a house cleaning service is that most cleaning service companies have more than one cleaner on staff. This could be important especially when the “regular” cleaner is ill, has a family emergency, doctors appointment, etc.  Well established cleaning services will have back-up cleaners who are cross-trained on each of their client’s homes in order to remedy such situations. Also, cleaning services likely offer a wider range of services, such as window washing, pressure washing, home-watch services, and more. And a third advantage is efficiency. In most cases the cleaning services team can clean your house in about 2 hours or less, whereas an individual/maid may be in your home working for 4 or more hours! Do you really want the cleaning lady hanging around your house all day?

Regarding price, many individuals out there charge ridiculously low prices in order to “win” your business. More often times than not (and as the old saying goes), you do get what you pay for – and generally even less in this case!

You can expect that most individual cleaners/maids charge by the hour, while services such as Venice Cleaning & Maid Services, charges clients by the job. We feel that per-job pricing is more advantageous to our clients simply because of consistency: you know how much you are paying each and every time we clean your house. Also, many of our clients who have switched to our service from having a cleaner/maid have reported that they did not feel comfortable that the person they had been paying hourly was doing work efficiently. It does stand to reason that a person being paid hourly might work a little slower in order to get paid more!
